8 a.m. (Meal #1): oatmeal, blueberries

11 a.m. (Meal #2, heavy snack): sausage roll (bad), string cheese

2 p.m. (Meal #3): *surprise lunch meeting* small serving of beef, green beans, small scoop of mashed potato, granola bar

5 p.m. (Meal #4, light snack): pineapples

7 p.m. (Meal #5): *reception, I’ll have to see; probably fruit or veggie tray items if I’m lucky and a meal later at home to round it out.*

9 p.m. (Light Snack): mixed fruit yogurt smoothie if nothing at the reception; fruit if there are meal items

birthday, birthday, birthday!

My 35th birthday is coming up and I’m excited! I won’t be traveling as planned, but I will enjoy a great ‘staycation’ in town.

I’ve already booked one birthday celebration – a good southern brunch at Screen Door, a great restaurant in the Arts District. A perfect day of good home cooked food, with a modern twist, followed by a day of shopping one of the districts around town or a movie if there’s something good out. I hope it’ll be a beautiful day that will allow us to get some sun on our faces!

So far, the birthday itinerary includes:

Birthday party at Splitsville

-Southern Brunch at Screen Door
Cork Wines (West Village), taste and purchase
-West Village window shopping (by then, I should be down at least 10-12 lbs!)
-Movie or Evening Patio

-Family BBQ with lots of hotdogs, barbeque chicken, baked beans, roasted vegetables, and turkey burgers and ‘THE’ birthday cake with special birthday medallion and special candles (purchased from La Duni – either the cuatro leches or triple chocolate truffle cake, I’m leaning towards the chocolate!)

Keep in mind I believe I’m allowed to celebrate my birthday one day for every year I’ve been alive or until I blow out candles…OR until the end of the summer, lol. More to come!

weekly goal

My goal for this week is to lose 2 lbs. My average is about 1 – 1.5 lbs, so I have to ramp up my efforts a little bit to see the difference. What is your goal for this week?

I want to drop below 200 this summer and that means I need to kick it up a notch! C. and I are starting to play tennis, so that should help alot. I’m also trying to build in walking daily. Last night I walked for 30 minutes. I should be able to do that every day from here on out. Nothing too agressive, just getting out of the house to walk my neighborhood. I find once I get out, if I’m not tired to begin with, I’ll walk at a good pace and push myself. It’s just taking that first step out of the door.

If I can hold to a 1-2 lb loss all summer, I will be well under 200 lbs in time for my next big event (my alumni chapter’s cookout) and for the fall!
