what’s old, what’s new?

March 23, 2010

While I’ve been blogging, I haven’t really been invested in my blog.  I don’t know if it’s because things are going well, but I’m guessing with nothing urgent to ponder, I’ve lost my blogging energy.

This lull does make for a good time to freshen things up a bit.  I almost want to start a new blog, but I like my little piece of online paradise, so I’m going to see if I can work with what I’ve got.

Life seems to be divided up into several key areas these days:

Love (BF)

Health and Beauty (hair, face, weight loss)

I feel the need to expand and grow.  I feel the need to turn to a new chapter.  I guess it’s time.

valentine’s day love

February 8, 2010

Valentine’s will be quite interesting for me at work this year. BF is sending me something and my Dad is sending me something.

My Dad usually sends me the ultimate in roses every year and BF is not cheap. I’m about to have every girl’s dream – lots of love from the men she loves! 🙂 I can’t wait!

new beauty

This is the year for a body upgrade. I mean head to toe!

The hair is well underway – newly natural, growing out of my ‘big chop’, healthy and strong.

The face – ahh the face. I feel like my face is in need of a little rejuvenation. I don’t know if time is catching up with me, but I do need a change of routine to try to recapture a little freshness. Any suggestions?

The body – I seem to have hit on something now that I’ve adjusted to a more low carb diet. I lost 5 lbs on my cruise with moderate exercise and high quality food, focusing on protein, fruit and vegetables. I am doing more of that as I continue the year. I am also pairing it with a focus on cardio and arm weights. Hopefully I’ll continue to see good results.

The mind – The mind hasn’t had a chance to process the changes in my life or a new year. I am riding the wave of goodness with the BF and maintaining the lessons learned during my holiday break to put work in its place, but I have not had a chance to let it all sink in. I don’t know if I’ve had a moment of solitude in weeks. I’m a thinker, so those moments must be had for me to settle with change. I’m not sure when I’ll get a moment like that, but I do need to build it into my schedule. A little time to meditate and absorb is always good.

The spirit – I don’t know if I’m mentioned BF’s involvement in his church, but he matches up well with my desired (lol) involvement. I’d made a committment last year to becoming more actively involved in my church. I don’t know how much I’ll accomplish in the short term with my schedule, but being with him definitely supports my growth in this area.

Is it wrong to visit Sephora daily to see what the samples are? Is it wrong to wait to order stuff when the samples are good?

Lol, well, I will just be wrong!

until I return…

I’m off to Mexico!  My friend N. and I are going to enjoy a 5 day girl’s vacation cruise with stops in Mexico.

More Jay, meal plans, natural hair journey and life when I return!

questions anyone?

December 17, 2009

Last year I removed all entries from the previous year from my blog.  It was a kind of closure and renewal for me.  I don’t know if I will do it again this year, but as I end the year (with no time for reflection just yet), I thought I’d see if anyone out there had any questions or thoughts to share for me.

So, have at it.  Any questions, clarifications, or thoughts?  I’d love to know what you think!

This month I am taking control of my image.  The entire year has been spent learning some very valuable lessons.  It’s about time I apply them.

My primary goal is to eat less, period.  I know how to eat well, now I need to work on eating less.  My second goal is to dress fashionably.  I have a good sense of what works for my body and what my style is and I need to display it.  Next, my home.  I started cleaning out my closets, etc.  It’s past time for my home to become another reflect of my style and a place of comfort and peace.  If nothing else, it also prepares me for moving when the time is right.  Speaking of moving, my final goal is my financial health.  I am doing really well and I have to continue the momentum.  In 14 short months, my car will be paid off and I will have about $1000 or so extra a month.  That’s enough to make moves without any change to my lifestyle.

I am ready to go.
