mutual feelings

August 31, 2009

Some days I wonder what could be between fb2 and me with the distance.  And then some days I know we have something good.  Today is a good day.

mixing it up

August 31, 2009

My first try at a daily moisturizer mix:

  • Mix equal parts glycerin and aloe vera juice
  • Mix equal parts water with glycerin/aloe vera juice blend
  • Add several drops of olive oil
  • Shake and spray

The results are very light, odor-less, and absorbs quickly when tested on my skin with no greasiness.  We’ll see what it’s like when my hair dries.   I’m hoping for soft, moisturized hair (i.e. wavy, frizz-free, springy).  I will try out maintaining my straightened hair with a touch of glycerin and Hot Six oil overnight (or maybe next week).   I don’t want to try too many new things prior to fb2’s visit.

7 p.m. (Meal #5): chopped salad with chicken

concocting new brew

August 30, 2009

Tonight I’ll embark on my first mix – my own moisture mix of water (moisture), glycerin (moisture), and aloe vera juice (moisture, revitalizer, stops hair loss, increase shine, added protein (amino acids), heat protectant).

My routine for tonight will be to wash, deep condition, and follow my usual routine by adding a leave-in. I then will moisturize with my new brew and let air dry.

My hope is that the new moisture blend leaves my hair soft, shiny, and wavy. My hair responds really well to added moisture. It would be nice to wake up tomorrow to curly/wavy soft fro and shiny, smooth relaxed ends. I’d love to flat iron it all and see soft, shiny, healthy, strong hair.

finally, a moisturizer

August 30, 2009

I finally found a resource that identifies a pure moisturizer for my hair! Glycerin!

glycerin

The Natural Haven had a post highlighting an unusual source for glycerin. I can’t say I’ll be using that product, but I will be purchasing pure glycerin from my local drugstore today. I already have my spray bottle and water ready. I may even add a little olive oil, also identified by the Natural Haven in a great article on ingredients as a good moisturizer, and aloe vera juice (my own personal favorite for protein and moisture). I’m on my way!
